Menlove, of Windsor Park, Oamaru. British Lion is by Argylo (2567), dam Darling. Drew’s Prince of Wales (673), General (322), Sampson alias Logan’s Twin (741), Lofty (455), Donald’s dam Maui, by Bothwell (68, N.Z.5.8.) by Glenroy (29, N.Z.5.8.), grandsire, Prince of Wales ; great-grandsire Coldrach; Glenroy (29. N.Z.5.8.), dam Darling, by Redman ; Maui’s dam Diamond, by Bothwell; grand-dam Polly, by Farmer ; great-grand-dam I Darling by Old Black Champion. DONALD has proved himself a sure foal-getter. He has got some of the best stock that has been left in the Pahiatua and Woodville districts ; very useful for spring-eart or ploughing purposes, and should have a good season. Scotch Lassie took the following prizes; First as a yearling, at Tapanui; first at Tapanui as a two-year-old ; first and champion at Tapanui as a three-year-old; first as one of a pair the same year ; and first at three j years at Taieri. Pearl has taken nume- ! rous prizes, and has bred five prize winners, including the champion of Otago. Herd Lassie.' Lord Lyon holds an unbeaten record, and bred last year’s champion mare in Australia, Flower of Balmoral, also Prince, who in his turn sired the champion horse of Australia. Lord Salisbury was champion horse of New Zealand for many years, both as a sire and in the show ring, never being beaten in Scotland or New Zealand, Richmond’s dam, Australian Maggie, was shown thirteen times on Australian show grounds and never was beaten, and her dam, Glasgow Maggie, was sold at McCullock’s sale in Melbourne for 840 guineas.
