j The Registration of Births Ex- | tension Bill (Sir Joseph Ward) | which has been read a second | time makes it lawlul to register j the birth of am r child born in New j Zealand previous to the,period of - 1 six months before the passing of the act, but whose birth has not previously been registered, pro--1 vided that satisfactory evidence on oath, and such other proof as he may deem necessary of the fact, time, and place of birth, and of the particulars of the parents, shall be sent to the RegistrarGeneral within twelve months after the passing of this act, and I that on application to have such birth registered a fee of £1 shall be paid to the Registrar-General, The Adoption of Children Bill, which has also been read a second time, provides that it shall not be lawful for any person adopting a child under the principal act to receive any premium or other consideration in respect of such adoption. Where an order of ; adoption is discharged under secI tion 9 of the principal act, the rights and legal responsibilities and incidents usually existing between parent and child shall, as from the date of the discharge, , revive as between the child and its natural parent.
