The Education Bill.
DEBASES IN THE HOUSE OF LORDS. London, August 2. The Earl of Crewe (Lord Presided! of the Council) was entrusted to take charge of the Education Bill in the House of Lords. A notable debate on the measure is proceeding. The Archbishop of Canterbury delivered a lofty, temperate speech in defence of the Church’s just rights. The second reading of the bill is assured with a view to making wide amendments when it reaches the committee stage.
