Foxton Athletic Club.
THE ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING. The annual general meeting of the Foxton Athletic Club, held in Mr Mark Perreau’s rooms on Tuesday evening, was well attended. Mr Sutherland was voted to the chair. The minutes of the last annual general meeting were read confirmed. REPORT AND BALANCE-SHEET. The report and balance sheet were then read and adopted. The report made reference rc the progress made by the cluh during the past year. The yeai started with a credit balance 0 odd and the club has spent £25 in improving the cycle track and dressing shed; also that at the last sports gathering the actual cash prizes were increased by nearly Notwithstanding this large extra expenditure, the club’s present balance at the bank is nearly £SO. It must also be taken into consideration that the weathei on the day of the sports was not all that could be desired which greatly interfered with the attendance of the public. The past year was also noticeable for the greai increase in the number of competitors, consequently the nomination and acceptance fees were more than the previous year, the former increasing by 10s 6d and the latter by £l2 10s. The present membership of the club totals 86 members, being an increase of 2c over last year. The Committee referred with regret to the death;of Messrs J. Vile and J. F. Overend. Their loss will be greatly felt, both having taken a great interest in the sport. Mr Vile has been patron of the club for the past two years and Mr Overend as auditor since the Club’s formation. In conclusion, the members of the committee express a hope that the club will continue to prosper and that the coming year will be even more’successful than the last. election of officers. Committee—Messrs J. Frew, E. Sutherland, J. Jillett, J. Desmond, E. Howe, L. Wilson, F. Martin, R. Baker, F. Lawton, M. Perreau, F. Hadfield. Markers—The Committee. Judges—Messrs S. Hickson, E. A. Coley, W. Walden, B. G. Gower, A. Laing, W. Baker, J. Chisholm. Auditors—Messrs G. Gray and and C. W. Morgan. Treasurer —Mr E. Healey. Secretary—Mr F. Whibley. Time-keepers Messrs C. L. Barnard and W. Howan, Starter —Mr A. Shadbolt. Assistant Starter —Mr E. E. Smith. The usual vote of thanks to thechair and to Mr Perreau for use of rooms concluded the meeting. STRAIGHT TO THE POINT. Mr Alexander Miller, the well-known builder, of Eoslyn, ia not lavish with words. He says what ho has to say briefly and to the point. Writing under date 19th May, Mr Miller says : —“ I suffered from rheumatism in my heel for two months, and was cured by Bheumo in two or three days.
