Independent Labour.
Dunedin, July n. A public meeting was held tonight under the auspices of the local branch of the Independent Political Labour League for the purpose of placing before the public the aims and objects of the League and discussing the prescut political situation. The Hon. W. Bolt presided, and, the attendance was about 45. The chairman, while expressing approval of the platform, thought itt would be well for the Labour not to take up an isolated position in politics, but should have an alliance of some sort with the democratic and more progressive minds ol the colony. ■ Messrs J. T. Paul and R. Ferguson spoke in support of an Independent. Labour Party and Mr R. Breen dealt with the Employers’ Association’s action in connection vend Mr Tregear’s letter on Sm-jalLm. No re.-ydutjoi! was. passed in connection with lbe League, but it was resolved to protest against the action oi the Employers’ Association in its monstrous attempt to limit the righto a citizen and to bring discredit on him as a public official.
