SPECIAL MEETING.
The special meeting of theHFoxton Borough Council held on Thursday evening to deal with the special order to make a special rate may be said to have been a record one, so far as length of time was concerned. From the time that business opened till its close took but a few minutes. There were presen I —Crs F. W. Frankland (in the chair), G. Gray, H. Baker, S. Hickson, and R. Moore.
The motion put before the meeting by Cr Baker, and seconded by Cr Moore, was carried unanimously : That the Foxton Borough Council do now make a special order to strike a special rate of one and a half-pence in the £ on the annual value of all the rateable properties in the Borough of Foxton to provide interest and other charges on a loan of borrowed under the Local Bodies Loans Act, 1901, and amendments, to erect Council Chambers and Public Library, the said rate to be an annually recurring one for a period of 20 years beginning on the Ist of April, 1907, and terminating on 31st March, 1928, or until the loan shall be paid off, to be due and payable on the Ist July in each and every year during the currency of the said loan at the Borough Council Office, Foxton.
A special meeting ot the Foxton Borough Council will be held on Friday, 15th June, to confirm this special order. The. Council rose at 7.45 p.m. (
