Tha Pietermaritzburg correspondent of ‘ ‘ The Times ’ ’ stated that while it is intended that a tribunal under martial law shall deal with chiefs and " ringleaders of the present rising, special Courts, at which Magistrates will preside, are being arranged to deal with the rank and file, with power to impose penalties up to two years' 1 uprisonment and lashes. Everything will be submitted for revision by the central authority. Mehlpkazulu and Ngnx have joined the rebels. They have abandoned their kraals and removed their women and stock.
The main body of rebels is still within Colonel Mackenzie’s area of operations. Some of the rebels are incensed against Bambaata and the witch doctors. Native women can be heard nightly wailing in the bush over the dead natives.
