Mr A. Bouar Daw, ex-member for the Blackfriars division of j Glasgow, is a candidate for the Dulwich electorate owing to the resignation of Mr J. E. Harris, who is going to Japan. . A packed meeting of Catholics in Albert Hall protested against the Education Bill. Archbishop Bourne presided and many Catholic Peers and Commoners were present. Earlier in the evening a thousand Catholics assembled on the Embankment and thirty thousand were accommodated at an overflow meeting outside the hall. Rome:, May 6. The volcano Stromboli, on the island of Stromboli, south-west ol Italy, is active, emitting rocks and lava.
