All Saints Church.

The annual meeting of Parishioners took place in the schoolroom on Tuesday night. The Treasurer (Mr W. S. Stewart) presented a very satisfactory balance-sheet which showed an excess of receipts over expenditure, for the year ended March 31st, of about £2O ; while a sum of £*9o had been sent to England towards the purchase of a pipe organ.

In moving the adoption of the balance-sheet, the Vicar (Rev. H. Wilson) said that the year had been a very eventful one. The old vicarage had been destroyed by fire, and a very satisfactory new building had been erected in its place. A second conflagration had, for the space of one exciting hour, placed the ehurch itself in the greatest jeopardy. A scheme for furnishing the church with a permanent organ had been carried to a successful issue, and the new instrument is expected to arrive about the month of June. Reference was made to the departure of Mr and Mrs C. F. England and to their enthusiastic labour in the church’s work during many years. In concluding his survey of the year, the Vicar spoke thankfully of signs of quickening spiritual life in the parish. The following officers were appointed for the present year : Vicar’s warden, Mr W. S. Stewart; people’s warden, Mr A. S. Easton ; auditor, Mr A. D. Clemett: treasurer, Mr Chisholm, vestrymen, Messrs F. E. Jenks, W. Nye, R. T. Betty, L,. W. Wilson, A. Fraser, F. W. Frankland, J. Chisholm. Ten gentlemen were nominated as vestrymen, and a ballot declared the above selection.

A copy of a petition sent to the standing committee of the Diocese by the Rongoteaend of the present parish, was read to the meeting. Satisfaction was expressed by all at the prospect of an early accomplishment of this long desired change; and a resolution was passed agreeing to the division as proposed ia the Rongotea petition.

A vote of thanks from the parish to all its voluntary workers closed the business.
