The Licensing Election.

The election of a Licensing Committee on Tuesday last for the district of Manawatu resulted in the return of the Temperance Party. Mr Alf. Fraser conducted the local poll, which resulted in the return of Mr G. A. Simpson at the head of the poll for Foxton only. Those elected on the Committee are W. T. Bowater, W. Murdock, R. K. Simpson, R. Wilson, and A. C. Perry. The latter is termed an Independent, but all the other returned candidates are Temperance nominees. The result of the polling, giving Foxton and district totals was:—

J. B. Clarkson, Ltd., cycle importers, have an important advertisement in this issue. We notice this enterprising firm are still progressing and giving away good things. It is a fully equipped cycle this time, and from our knowledge of this particular machine, the lucky winner will obtain a really high grade cycle as an Easter gift.
