—«. — MONTHLY MEETING.

The Foxton School Committee met last evening at the Council Chambers, there being present — Mesdames Haywood and Frankland, and Messrs S. H. Baker (chairman), Betty, Coley, Gray, Frankland (secretary). The minutes of the previous meeting were read and confirmed. The secretary read correspond dence, also recollections of Mr Fraser’s suggestions for suitable arrangements in connection with the Premier’s approaching visit— Proposed by Mr Gray, seconded by Mr Frankland, that secretary be instructed to wire asking if the Premier can open school at 10 a,m. on Wednesday or on the previous afternoon, and that in the former event we can drive him to Levin after the ceremony. Carried. According to his Private Secretary’s telCgfdm, it was pointed out that the Premier will most likely arrive by train at about 3 p.m. on Tuesday, and it was suggested that Borough Council, Chamber of Commerce, and School Committee wear distinctive badges when welcoming the Premier. The School Committee are to wear red, white and blue rosettes, and the staff of teachers bows of the same colours.

On the motion of Mr Baker, seconded by Mr Frankland, it was Suggested that the Borough Council wear green and white. It was further proposed by Mr Gray, seconded by Mrs Haywood, that arrangements as to time be left to Messrs Baker, Coley, Gray and Frankland, —they to meet the Borough Council and Chamber of Commerce and see that the items of programme fit it. Carried. The headmastar’s report was then read, and some discussion ensued relating to the expulsion a child.

The secretary was instructed to write the Board pointing out the need of a bell and bell-tower for new building ; it was decided to call tenders for the school cleaning when the new school is entered on; whilst the proposal to obtain a piano was left to the new committee. ,

Several accounts were passed for payment, and business concluded.
