Manawatu Herald. THURSDAY, FEBRUARY 15, 1906. ELECTRICITY.
Wk have made it our duty to interview several Foxton business heads relative to the desire to establish an electric lighting plant in the Borough—such as Cr Stiles mooted at Monday night’s Council meeting. All with whom we came in contact seem to realise that we are in want of a good light, and v. of them would willingly give their support to the project, if nee hd. Cr Stiles’ reference seems to have opened up a big question. The matter oHip, tiling has always been a. draw-Ir.c-:. ta Foxton, and v:- v mid urge upon councillors to ni'd.d Messrs Andrews and Handlers electrical plant in our midst—always providing the light is what it is represented to be, and also c mies within measureablefinancial distance. If money is needed to furnish us with a-good light, let us borrow same with the knowledge that such capital will be interest bearing. With an up -to - date glimmer, we feel certain such a needful concern would soon pay for itself and though not wishing to detract attention from the water question, we feel Councillors and ratepayers alike should bear in mind the fact that there seems a reasonable chance of Foxton obtaining a good lighting plant at cheap cost. So, in conclusion, we would say : ‘ ‘ Keep the topic in mind,” and, above all, “ Ket there be light! ”
