When Violet Sweetlips married George a good many remarks were made, and among them the following were recorded: Her mother said: “She’s too good for him.” Her father said: “ One of ’em off my hands.” Her brother said : “There’s no accounting for taste.” Her sister said: ‘lf he only knew ! ’ Her bosum friend said: At last! The other bridesmaid : ‘ Better late than never. ’ The dressmaker: 1 Won’t he be disappointed ?’ The parson: ‘ Every little helps. ’ The slavey; ‘ Thank Gawd !’ The maiden aunt: ‘ Well, I never!’ Her previous sweetheart: “ Poor devil. ’ The bride: ‘ I wonder ’ The bridegroom : !! !’
