Robbery on a Steamer.

Blenheim, Feb. 2. Dan Love, a well-known resident of Picton, was robbed of while returning by tiles. 3, Pateena from Nelson on Thursday. Love laid down on a seat and while asleep the money was removed j from his pocket. The police went aboard at Picton and found a man hiding in a boat. He was taken ashore as a suspect. Another man 0:1 the steamer was suspected of being an accomplice, and a constable went on to Wellington by the Pateena to further investigate matters. The incident created mild excitement among the passengers as robberies on coastal boats are becoming frequent of late. Recently a Stipendiary Magistrate was relieved of a large sum while on a voyage from Westport to Nelson. The Pateena’s passengers included a large number of the racing fraternity who Were returning from Nelson.
