Manawatu Herald. TUESDAY, JANUARY 16, 1906. “JUDGE NOT! LEST YE BE JUDGED ACCORDINGLY!”

When Scripture directed the believers and followers of JesirChrist to go forth into the highways and by-ways to preach the Gospel and tell of the true light oGod, we do not think it meant to convey to such believers and followers that they had the privilege to nidge or pass opinions on departed souls. And we therefore protest against representatives o ’ so-called religious sects examphV. the lives and deaths of human, oersonages, ’ere they may have been placed in their last earthly resting place, and much more serious, before expert opinion been expressed as to the cause o l ' demise. Such a happening w have to record against the religious organisation commonly known fus as the Plymouth Brethren, one of whom, whilst indulging hi street preaching in Main Street on Sunday night last, preferred to hold up as an example of sinfulness, a being who had only 30 hoims previously passed away to the great beyond. We ask : “What right had this gentleman to do such?” “Was he superhuman?” “Is he The God himself?” He would have displayed much more taste and judgment if he had adjourned till some future date his remarks on the person whose life probably he knew nothing of. Heresay wr probably the cause of his discourteous sentiments. .So far as we know the particular sect we speak of are Christians in every sense of the word, and possibly they may be forgiven for erring, as we claim they have done, and we trust that in future their speakers will not pose as the Creator himself, but content themselves with instancing Scripture as it is written for them. At all events, if they wish to touch on the lives of men or their last moments in this wicked world, they may leave such remarks until the time seems opportune and legal. We do not think Scripture intended any redeemed sinner to spiritually judge his fellow man.
