Foxton Tennis Club.
On Wednesday evening a meeting of the Foxton Tennis Club Committee was held at Mr Clemett’s, there being present—Misses Austin, Wanklyn and Collins, and Messrs Clemett (chairman) and Marshall (secretary). The minutes of the previous meeting were read and confirmed, and various accounts amounting to £2 14s yd were passed for payment. It was decided to hold a tournament again this year, prizes being already promised for the Ladies and Gentlemen’s Singles. The tournament which is to be commenced early in February is to be played in “rounds.” The gentlemens singles are to be handicapped by ladies in committee, and ladies singles vice versa. The mixed doubles are to be drawn for and then handicapped according to the “ drawing.” Mrs C. Robinson, Miss P. Fraser, and Messrs L. J. Furrie and W. Edwards to act with the committee in drawing up the handicaps. It was decided that arr aignments for matches with Sandon and Levin be left in the hands of the secretary. Before closing the meeting, a htarty resolution was passed that Mr and Mrs Stewart be made life members ot the club.
