Further disturbances have occurred at Shanghai and there have been several casualties. The allied forces control the situation. The Chinese are endeavouring to suppress the disorders. A Japanese cruiser and gunboat has been ordered to Shanhai.

Brussels, December 20. The Belgian Government has demanded that the Porte transfer Jarvis, a Belgian who was sentenced to death for being concerned in the attempted assassination of the Sultan, to the Belgian Consular authorities for judgment. Paris, Dec. 20. The Venezuelan dispute has been settled to the satisfaction of France.
