Britain’s Unemployed.

London, December 13

Processions of the unemployed were held in Hyde Park, and afterwards two of the leaders waited on Sir Henry CampbellBannerman at his residence and urged upon him the hardships of the unemployed. Queen Alexandra’s relief fund has reached ,£IOO,OOO. This includes ,£40,000 earmarked for London, which has also been allotted another £IO,OOO on account. Altogether £68,000 has been allocated, including ,£15.500 in the provincial towns. Mr John Burns, President ofthe Local Government Board, assisted in the distribution of the fund.

Five thousand unemployed inarched past Sir H. CampbellBannerman’s residence outside which 300 had previously picnicked, sympathising tradesmen providing the sandwiches. The police took many precautions.
