In set ting out a young orchard it ii highly important that the trees be set exactly in geometric order, exactly in line with each other in two directions.
An orchard presents a much more attractive appearance if care is exercised i in this direction, and the looks of an orchard prove to be an important factor it a time comes when it is desired tc sell the orchard.

Set out small stakes in the exact spot where each tree is to stand. Make a light triuod, as Is shown in the cut, with a cord and weight, arranged as shown. Set the tripod over the stake so that the weight at the end of the cord will be exactly over the stake. Now pull up the stake and dig the hole for the tree, without moving the tripod. Ret the tree so that when the ■weight is lowered it will touch the trunk.
