Foxton School Committee.

At a meeting of the Foxton School Committee, held last evening in the Council Chambers, there were present: Mesdames Haywood, Frankland, Kev. Mr Wilson, and Messrs Betty, Coley, Gray and Frankland (secretary). Mi* Baker sent an apology for nonatteiidartce, and Rev. Wilson was voted to thfc chair. Mr Barnard also sent an apology tor non-attendance. . A memo from Mr Carson relating to teachers and committees re pertain new proposals, was read, and if was finally decided that the secretary writ<? to the Board to have the obscurities of this circular memo cleared up. It was further decided that the secretary inform the Board that we prefer to leave our existing arrangements as to entrance of infants intact.

Much discussion took place on the schools exhibition at Wanganui, and it was decided That the secretary write to the Board suggesting that in future years that the school work be exhibited at Wanganui, Hawera, and Palmerston North, even though the whole of the judging Would have to be done at Wanganui alone.—Also resolved that the secretary should ascertain if any minimum guarantee was required by the Railway Department. In the event of there being at least 50 children desiring to go, and no guarantee beyond £5 required, the secretary is to call another special meeting of the committee (by notifying Mr Barnard as the most centrally residing member) for next Friday evening. The chairman, the Rev. Wilson, Mr Betty, the secretary, and the headmaster were appointed a subcommittee for choosing the school pnzes, the purchase of same to ta divided between Mr Fraser and Mrs Hussey.

Approximate amounts collected for the school childrens’ treat are :—Mr Coley about £l2, Mrs Haywood nearly £lO, Mr Frankland nearly £5, Mrs Frankland nearly £3, Mr Gray about £z , Mr Baker xos. It was understood that £j 10s should be allocated to th<? general fund, and about £l2 in prizes.

Mr Simmons was accorded a hearty vote of (hanks for the presentation of dumb-bells to the children.
