The Premier addressed a crowded meeting at Shannon last nigkt, and at the conclusion of his speech, a vote of confidence was unanimously passed in favour of the present administration. Mr Stevens visited Messrs Coley and Stiles flaxmill by kind" permission of that firm on Monday and addressed over 30 of the men. The candidate touched briefly on the main points his political policy, and received ah' appreciative and attentive hearing* Mr Stiles presided, and performed hi* duties in a very creditable and courteous manner. A vote of thanks and confidence was accorded Mr Steven* aud carried unanimously, and ,th* usual compliment to the chair concluded a very satisfactory and success* l ful meeting. Mr Vile addressed a meeting of electors at Himatangi last night. Mr Vile was yesterday nominated for the Manawatu seat by Messrs A. McHardy and T. Masters (Sandoh)i B. G. Gower (Foxton), J. Stevenson ,£ulls), and E. K. Kilgour (Marton).
