Manawatu Bowing Club.
A _ meeting of the Manawatu Rowing Committee was held at Secretary’s rooms last evening, there being present —B. G. ttower, Esq. (Capt), E. Hill (Secretary), and Messrs E. Ray, J, Gillespie, and J. Marsh. The Secretary reported that outriggers had been repaired, and also that 17 trophies had been obtained for the sports, and that there was every prospect of a successful day’s outing. Mr Saville’s tender for necessary repairs was accepted. It was decided to purchase one dozen Jerseys for the Club’s use. It was decided that the Captain and Treasurer open an account in the Post Office Saving’s Bank on behalf of the Rowing Club. After a little discussion, it was decided to change the day of the aquatic sports to Wednesday, December 13th. An aquatic procession will take place prior to commencement of the different events, and it was decided that the programme be made up as follows: —Pair-oar tubs; double sculls outriggers ; single sculls tubs; barrel race, 150yds; swimming race, 100yds ; fishermen’s race; pair oar outriggers ; greasy boom. The course is to be from Austin’s shed to the end of the wharf.
A large number of new members were elected, including Messrs J. Lewis, F. Howie, C. T. Easton, N, Canned, E. Wanklyn, W. Haydon, F. Henrickson, F. Ball, J. Broad, W. Gardiner, W. Harris, 0. Austin, F. Shadbolt, W. Hussey. D, Bradley, W. Reid, W. Terrill, W. Hickson, A. Laing, S. Cameron, G. Langley, E. E. Snow, W. Wanney, W. Edwards, J. Starck, and W. Swanney.
Votes of thanks to the chair and to the Secretary for the use of his room concluded the meeting.
