Parliament concluded a particularly busy session’s work on . Tuesday morning last a little after \ eight o’clock. A glance thr ■' or b “ Hansard ” shows that 25 s^ec ' ; 1 committees were set up, 106 public bills received the Royal assent, two public bills were reserved for the signification of His Majesty's pleasure, 98 bills were dropped of otherwise disposed of, and 674 petitions were presented: The House sat an 71 drys, the.daily average sitting being 8 hours 33 minutes, 329 papers were laid upon the table and 480 reports _ were received from select committees; Of the Bills Mssed perhaps the Native Townships Local Government, New Zealand International Exhibition Empowering, Aid to Public Works and Land Settlement, Timber and Flax Royalties) and Workers’ Dwellings Afii Amendment Were the most important. The Bible Lessotis in Public Schools, Absolute Majority Vote, Sugar and Tobacco Duties Abolition, and Trade Monoplies Prevention were measures which were dropped, but are almost sure to engage the attention of the House next session. Many local bills are included in those Which recieved Royal assent, and Parliament may be said to have got through a trying session’s work in a satisfactory manner.
