ALONG THE TROLLEY LINE.
Electrical experiments are about to be made on a large scale in the suburbs of London to haul heavy freight by electric towage. The overhead trolley system is to be used. The suggestion has been made in Rouen that the trolley wires in the streets she. oe subject to use by the fire deipartment. The idea is that pumps capable of being electrically driven .shall ! e installed in a number of suitable positions, to switched on to tlfte trolley wires as occasion re-
quires. The most expensive trolley car ever designed is about to be built in West Philadelphia for a trolley line syndicate in Ohio to cost $15,000, fitted up as a sleeper and dining-car, with sofa bed*, sleeping berths, plate glass flooring, sheet metal siding, pneumatic -rongs, whistles and sand boxes, bathroom 'with tile floor, tea and coffee urns, electric heaters, folding washstands, disappearing ice boxes, food refrigerators, disappearing tool boxes ami controllers, patent eiectrid headlights fitted with interchangeable glass for danger signals, electricity, gas, hot and cold water.
