Hoping Against Hope. - A WOMAN’S SEVERE INDIGESTION; MISTAKEN FOR CANCER, IS CURED BY MOTHER SEIGEL’S SYRUP. la the history of medicine numerous blunders are recorded of patients suffering from one disease being treated for another, and sometimes with fatal results. Raphael, Italy’s greatest painter lost his life in this way at the early age of : thirty-seven, and it is not too mtfoh to suppose that, even in present days of advanced science, the same kind of thing, too, often occurs. Certainly, the case of Mrs Jane Jones, of Flinders Street, East Adelaide, favours such a belief. “Between eight and nine years ago,” says Mrs Jones, in a letter dated March 14th, 1905, “my health, which for a long while had been far from good, broke down, and I was completely prostrated. My appetite ceased, and what little food I forced myself to eat, instead of nourishing me, caused only pain and distress. Acute pains in my chest and back deprived me of rest day and night, and almost drove me mad. Gradually I de- J dined into a weak and emanciated condition, and finally reached a state of complete helplessness. I was never free from pain. Every breath I drew hurt me like a stab.

“It being generally thought that my sufferings were due to cancer, I became an inmate of an Hospital. That was in 1897. There the doctors seemed not to understand my case, for after several months of treatment I was discharged as incurable.

“ When I returned to my home my condition was vary sad; I do not think a more miserable woman could have been found. There appeared to be no relief for me on this side of the grave, and I resigned myself to hopeless suffering for the few years or months that I might live. “ But when I was at my worst a friend advised me to make a trial of Mother SeigeTa Curative Syrup, and my life was saved. Though I attached no value to my friend’s advice at the time, and, in fact, did not believe in it at all, I agreed to what was proposed, feeling sure that it did not in the least matter what 1 did. Judge, then, of my surprise when, after taking the Syrup for a week, I, found myself feeling better; the medicine was actually doing me good. “As soon as I realised this I persevered with its use, and the result was wonderful In a few weeks I was quite free from pain, could eat fairly well, stand, walk—even do light work A little more of the Byrup completed my cure, and I fait like a new woman. lam now sure that my complaint was not cancer, as had been supposed, but an aggravated type of indigestion, such as only Mother Seigel's Syrup will cure. “ I am now seventy-two years old, and a woman of those years cannot expect to get along without a little medicine occasionally.
