Tennis Matters.
to t.HB EDITOR 01? THE MANAWATD HERALD. Sir,~*ln your issue of the sth inst., I notice a paragraph containing a "correspondent’s” remarks concerning me in my relation to the Foxton Lawn Tennis Club as Hon. Secretary. I take strong exception to the paragraph as a whole, and a certain remark in particular. It seems to me that if your correspondent is at all manly and straightforward he will acknowledge through your columns, and over his signature (with your permission) tjiat he is labouring under a misapprehension. I may say that the real facts are that on several occasions I have tried in vain to get a quorum of the committee together. Re prizes m last season’s tournament, in the case of the ladies there is a sealed handicap that must not be opened except in committee, the rsasou tor which will appear evident to anyone having an elementary knowledge of handicapping. I. am, etc.,. F. W. Herston Feankland.
