A Cricket Association Formed.

A meeting of delegates from the Various clubs in the Fox ton district was hold last evening in Porreau's rooms for thrt purpose of considering the advisability of forming a Cricket Association in Fqxton. There were present;— Messrs W. S. Stewart (in the chair), L. E, Reade, L.Furrie (Foxton C. 0.), J. Bow* andE. Marshall (Moutoa C. C.) A. p. Clemett and W. Mainwaring (Denting Society 0. C.), and W. J. Garman and W. H. Swannoy (Wirokino

The chairman opened the meeting Vlth a few remarks relative to the gathering, and the convenor, Mr L. J. Purrie, explained the object of the meeting and the benefit that would arise from an association of the clubs. The representatives of the clubs present also spohe favouring the formation of the association, after which, on the proposition of W. J. Gardiner, seconded by Mr J. Purrie, it was decided that an association to be called the “Foxton docket Association ” be formed. The election of officers resulted ns follows :—President, Mr 0. Robinson ; Management Committee, Messrs J. Bo we and Marshall (Moutoa), Stiles and Mainwaring (Debating Society), Gardiner and Swanne.v (Wirokino), and the Secretary Mr L. j. Purrie). The Foxton clubs representatives on the committee are to be appointed bv the dub. The fee for affiliation was fixed at 10# 8d for each club. Some discussion on the most suitable iay for play took place.—Moutoa and Wirokino were unanimously in favour of Saturday, the Moutoa delegates •tfttiag that their club could not participate unless Saturday’s were fixed upon. An opinion was expressed that perhaps an amicable arrangement could be come to between the town clubs, and the matter was eventually held over for arrangements to be made between them. , It was decided to lay down a limo»tone pitch in the park providing permission can be got from the Council. The arrangements for same were left In the hands of the Secretary. A working bee was organised for Saturday afternoon to work on the pitch. The Secretary was instructed to prepare subscription sheets for each club so that money could be collected to defray cost of pitch. It was estimated that it would cost from i'2 10s to TB.

A hearty vote of thanks to Mrs Reeves for the presentation of medals was carried with acclamation.

The first meeting of the Manage taent Committee was fixed for Wednes day 11th, in Perreau’s rooms.

A vote of thanks to the Chair and to Mr Perreau for the use of rooms concluded the meeting.

Mr Stewart afterwards kindly profiled refreshments to tho delegates.
