Big Theft.

A broker’s clerk has confessed to the forgery and theft of £70,000 worth ot securities belonging to the National City Bank of New York. The securities have been recovered. The name of the clerk has not been divulged. New York, Oct. 3.

The name of the broker’s clerk who forged securities of the New York Bank is Leonard. He declares that he committed the robbery to win a bet, (md to show how easily the safeguards of the bank might be outwitted. Leonard posted £60,000 worth of the securities to the owners. The remainder were intact in his rooms. He says he intended to return the whole of them. Leonard claims that be is a public benefactor, not a criminal.
