Montgomery’s Famous Pictures.
A packed house greeted Mr Montgomery at the Public Hall on Tuesday night last, when, as usual, the programme was of an interesting and enjoyable nature. All the pictures were new to Foxton, whilst the vocal items were splendidly rendered. Perhaps the most successful of the humourous budget thrown upon the screen were “ Bill Bailey’s Surprise,” ,l The Lost Child,” and “ Scenes in a Parisian Boarding House.” “ The Sign of the Cross ” was described with a series of animated pictures, and gave those who had not seen Wilson Barrett’s mast f -. - piece a good idea of what the -’ -,, "u ' was. The illustrated ' JL/ * '. j { .. «onp wem in the “ ¥ r Montgomery, who tendered - ..ying so hard tp .forget Aoi\ ” “ Down in We 'of Sbdntiiidbah ” in style. Mr Montgomery scored a hit in “ The Soldier of Japan ” and “ The man in the Overalls.” George Gibson gave a wire-walking exhibition which varied the performance-. The comic part of the programme was in the hands of OrUlotld Edwards, who was seen to effect impersonating a policeman, and in Mother item impersonating a burglar. “ The Inquisitive Kiddie ” was another successful turn. The piano accompanist did his work Well, and altogether the show deserved the full house which greeted them. Mr Montgomery mentioned that he intended visiting Foxton again shortly.
