Lord Salisbury was champion horse of New Zealand.for many years, both as a sire and in the show ring, never being beaten in Scotland or New Zealand. Richmond’s dam, Australian Maggie, ' was shown thirteen times on Australian show grounds and never was beaten, and her dam, Glasgow Maggie, was sold at McCullock’s sale in Melbourne for 840 guineas.
