Mr If. Bowden, an old-time Foxlonian, is at present on a visit to town.
Mr P. J. O’Reg hi has replied to invitations to contest the Bailor electorate that he cannot possibly spare the time required to do so. This decision means that Mr O’Began will probably be a candidate lor a Wellington seat, tie will make a definite announcement shortly. Captain William Jackson Barry, one Of our oldest colonists, has received information that his aunt. Mrs Mary Carter, of Hampshire, left him at her death property in London and elsewhere, in addition to a sum of money. He naet with an accident some time ago, and is still frail, but this does not deter him from making plana in regard to his future career. Mr Norman Barker, who has been employed on the “• Hmkai.d” stall' bathe past few months, lett Boston yesterday morning to take up a position on the *• Mastcrton Daily Times/’ He carries with him the well-wishes ot all with whom he came in contact. Occasion was taken at the " Sunbeam” supper on Wednesday night to "toast” him, the proposition being hdt in the hands of Cr Shadbolt, who iv'ened in eulogistic terms to Mr Barker’s many pleasing qualities. Foxtonians would gladly welcome his return at any future date. In all probability, the genial “ Norman " pl:i\s for Manawatu rep. footballers against Wairarap.i at Mastcrton to-day.
