Heavy showers early in the afternoon threatened to spoil the outing, but as the day wore on the weather cleared, and all the events were got oft without intervention.

THE “SUNREAM” PERFORMANCE. A BRILLIANT SUCCESS. As carlv as seven o’clock in the evening, the Public Hall was visited by those anxious to obtain a comfortable seat, and long before the curtain flew up all seating accommodate m was fully taxed.. When the curt in was raised the Sunbeam minstrel circle and drawing-room chorus treated the audience to areal sparkling ooening meWlv, “Be in Time,” —not the least successful of which was the manoeuvring of coloured matches to the tune of a waltz. Then the following programme of vocal items wa= gone through, most of which demanded encores When the snnsM turns the Ocean Bine to Gold.” Will Hooker; “McCarty,” Arthur Lloyd; “Mv Home Girl,” Bert. Shadb'o't; “ When the Fields are white with Cotton,” Ettie Webb; “Asleep in the Deep,” Mr ]. T. Levett; “ How was I to know,” Norman Shaw ; “ The Coalman’s Wife,” Lizzie Laing; “Mv Yokohama Ladv,” Ted Sutherland; “ Please Mr Conductor,” Jimmv Currie. “ Everv Nation has a Flag but the Coon ” by the company made a fitting finale. In this, flags of all nationalities were anayed by fie circle, while the unfortunate coon was provided with a shirt emblem by a sympathetic onlooker. The corner men, Arthur Lloyd (tambo)and Norman Khaw (hones) filled the bill wall throughout with clean gags aid fimniosities.
The second part opened with a sailor’s hornpipe, bv Mr Skleners (encored). Next came perhaps fie most pleasing turn of the evening, that of an action duet by Ettie Web K and Lizzie Lain?, “The Rival Dolls--.” These vonng ladies both acted their parts to the letter, and were composed to repeat the second verse as a recall. Goon melody always tabes op, and T‘d Sutherland's “ I’ve God a White Man working for Me” brought forth “T don’t care if von n n bb“r enmhack,” as a second number. Miss Robinson’s pleasing voice done full lustier? to “ Inst Next Door ” (encored.) Achur Lloyd, the funny man, rendered “ Oh To-Morrow” and “ Ne'-er Again” in business-like fashion. Then the ever popular sentimental singer, Will Hooker had to rr spend (n an encore for Ids' rendition of “ The Black sheep In-- -s von best of all.” Now came th" tasnmiting cake, .walk bv. Mls'-e- Mav and Lizzie Laing, Norman Barker and Ted Sutherland. The ladies were in beautiful costume dress, while the gents, in real coon “ get up,” filled the bill to perfection. The turn “ toW on ” so well that the plaudits of the audience demanded an encore, which was for l In coming. The. differeat steps were executed in a manner which bespoke much training. Mrs Currie sang “ Madeline ” in her best voice, and was compelled to answer a reoall. “ Wnere the Silver-,-Colorado Wends its Wav,” by Mr Rndcliffc, brought forth much applause, and “ I trust you Still” was rendered. “The Pet Elephant,” a comic sketch, in which Mccrvr Arthur Tdivd. Will Honker, Bob Grace and B >b Howard were seen to effect, mads ths audience roar with laughter, and then the company concluded the evening’s entertai - ment by singing “ God Save the King,” Mrs F. Walls officiated in hsr usual capable manner at the piano, and too much credit cannot be given to this lady for her tutoring capabilities.
