Goldmine’s dam was Scotch Lassie, Richmond (imp.) dam Pearl Richmond (imp.) by Bride of Richmond, by Gallant Scotchman (imp.) dam Australian Maggie, by Muir Lad (imp.), from Glasgow Maggie (imp.); Pearl by Lord Salisbury (imp.) trom Damsel (imp). Scotch Lassie look the following prizes First as a yearling, a 1 Tapanni; first at Tapanui as a two-year-old ; first and champion at Tapanui as a three-year old; first as one of a pair the same year ; and first at Taieri at three years. Pearl has taken numerous prizes, and has bred five prize winners, including the champion of Otago, Herd Lassie. Lord Lvon holds an unbeaten record, and bred this year’s champion mare in Australia, Flower of Balmoral, also Prince, who in his turn sired the champion horse of Australia. Lord Salisbury was champion horse of New Zealand for many years, both as a sire and m the show ring, never being beaten in Scotland or New Zealand. Richmond’s dam, Australian Maggie, was shown thirteen times on Australian show grounds and never was beaten, and her dam, Glasgow Maggie, was sold at McCullock’s sale in Melbourne for S4O guineas.
