After 22 years of successful trading our Business has grown to such proportions that we find further assistance in its management and development has become a necessity, if the past growth and expansion is to be maintained, and we are not amongst those who are prepared to occupy a stationary or receding position. On the contrary it is our intention to maintain the position of first rank in the Drapery trade of Palmerston North. Mr. Ross, who has practically managed the Business from its infancy, is now to be assisted in the management by Mr. James Wallace (a gentleman recently from Home), who comes with an extensive business experience and all the latest and most up-to-date ideas of Retail trading, all of which are supported by the highest credentials for energy, ability, and integrity, and we consider ourselves fortunate in securing the services of agentleman so eminently qualified in every way for this important position. While heartily thanking our numerous Customers for the consistent support accorded us for so many years (and without which our Business could never have grown to what it is), we hope and confidently believe that the step now taken is one that will command their approval, resulting, as it will do, in improved management and further attention to all the requirements of visitors to THE BON MARCHE. We feel that in making so important a change in the management of our Business, and in reviewing the prosperity that has attended it for so many years, as well as with the further object of giving a pleasing introduction to our new Manager —something more than “ thanks for past favours ” is called for—and we have decided to distribute amongst Customers on the above dates (August sth to 12th) a sum equal to /250 in hard cash, according to the conditions under “ HOW,” and will be pleased to •see as many old and new Customers as can make it convenient to pay us a visit on the above dates, whether their purchases be large or small.
