Parliamentary Visit.
THE LEVIN-GRBATFORD RAILWAY ROUTE INSPECTED
The Parliamentary party which Mr. J. Yile, member for Manavvatu, bad organiser l to vis't the district ami inspect the route of tho proposed Rcvin-Greatford railway, left Wellington yesterday morning, proceeded to Greatford and were driven to the Bandon tram terminus, from whence they came down to Foxton. Halts worn made at various places en route and Foxton was m.ohecl at 6.45 pm. Here they were met by the Mayor and a number of Councillors and citizens, and subsequently Were entertained at a smoko concert in tho Masonic Ha!!, over 100 gentlemen being present. Ibe proceedings at the concert were pleasantly carried out, a number of toasts being honoured, and an enjoyable evening spent. reveral lengthy speeches were made, in which the importance of the proposed connection was urged. As the various'apeakera’ remark a were of interest to readers in this district and as we could not do justice to them in this issue we have held over our report. The members of the [louse who made the visit with Mr. Vile were Messrs. W. Byrnes (Patea), A. D. Willis (Wanganui), F. WE Lang (Waikato), D Heid (Taeri), A. E. Remington ( Rangitikei), E. G. B. Moss (Ohinemiri), W. IE Held (Otaki). Several of the members returned to Wellington this morning, but the others remained and were to-day shown round the town and had a number of local requirements brought under their notice.
