Stiles draws attention to a special clearance in ladies black dress skirts which have to be moved out to make room for coming shipments. They are to be sold at very special prices. As evidence of the great interest taken in the Awahou-Old Boys match next Saturday, a local business window already announces —per medium of letter bracket —that a visit’ will he welcome after the game. Complaints have reached us that too much space is devoted in the Herald to football, and perhaps with some justice. But we would like to say just one thing: Football enthusiasts take the trouble to come forward with information, whereas some other people who like to have their special interests ventilated hang hack and expect us to divine their wishes. We are always willing to give all pn'dicT possible, but it is physically impossible for us to be in two places at once, and so we trust to receive the co-operation of those who would use our colum \r.
The Foxton Borough Brass Band have lately reinforced their ranks by new arrivals, and played out on Thursday night last, the improvement in musical tone being very noticeable At present, local amateurs are i-rhe: ru ing a minstrel performance in aid c.i their funds, and the talent engaged can be relied on to favour Foxton wHi a pleasing night’s amusement on the :6th of August. Admission has been fixed at 2S and is, and tickets are to be issued immediately. The next rehearsal will take place on Monday night at the Masonic Hall.
