Colonel John Hay, lately United Slates Secretary of State, is dead. Father Hays, the temperance reform lecturer, spoke in Palmerston last evening. Mr R. McKenzie, an old resident of Shannon, was “ farewelied” there on Friday evening. The appointment of Hon. W. P. Reeves as High Commissioner for New Zealand is for three years. The warrant was signed by the Governor on June 14th. Bro. Fox, who has for some time been associated with the work of All Saints Anglican Church, Foxton, has tendered his resignation, to take effect in three months time.

Mr P. W. Robertson, of Wellington, Rhodes scholar for New Zealand for the year 1905, will leave for Oxford on Saturday, July 15th. He has been advised that he will be admitted to Trinity College, to which he gave first preference in his application.
