Mr F. H, Phillips, of Levin, has been appointed a native interpreter and translator to the Legislative, Council. Wellington citizens’ presentation to Mr H. S. Wbolcott, for thirty years continuously a fireman in the Wellington brigade, consisted pt a cheque for £i74 las 3d. - Mr James, architect for,the Wanganui Educa'ion Board? arrived in Foxtou last, evening and tiiis morning in' spected the local school buildings with a view to making recommendations as to the renewal of the same.
