Dominoes #iffoa«led, the many tastefully designed •dresses produced a very pretty effect awdeed as they were mingled with the snore sobre sartorial adornments of 'the gentlemen ; and still the fun grew faster and more furious.

The intervention of supper gave a brwif respite to the dancers, who evinced keen enjoyment of the many dainty confections and other tempting delicacies displayed upon the suppertable, which was laid upon the stage. Then once more the Muse of the Dance waved her wand, and not till after three e’clock did tlm dancers, tired, but well pleased with the evening’s enjoyment, their homeward way.

The Mesd'afoeg Frankland had left nothing Undone to secure the comfort and enjoyment of their guests, of whom WO re about sixty couples on the besides many non-dancers assembled to watch their more impulsive friends. Festoons of flags hung here and there, and tastefully arranged greeneries served to transform the usually sombre and unprepossessing walls, which presented quite a different aspect, while a floor that was generally voted “ splendid ’’ and favoured with “Other terms more incongruous but equally commendatory, and wellrendered music supplied by Mr Berthold (piano) and Miss Alve (violin), assisted by Mr T. Betty (eupkoninm), all tended to heighten the pleasure of dancers and lookers-on alike. Indeed, the function may be termed the social event of the season for Foxton. Visitors were present from Wellington, Palmerston North, Levin (some having to travel by boat several miles owing to the disappearance of roads beneath the flood waters; though this did not seem in the least to have damped their ardour), and in and around Foxton. M. Collins, blace brocaded silk trimmed with Spanish dace Mrs A. D: Clemett, black spangled act over black glace, scarlet poppies, diamond star; Miss Adeline Collins, cream silk with point lace Bertha ; Miss Annie Collins, cream chiffon with satin trimming, corsage of blue forget-me-nots; Miss Edith Collins, black velvet dress, handsomely trimmed with sequin trimming; Miss Hilda Collins, pale blue silk dress, handsomely trimmed with chiffon tuchings and guipure insertions ; Mrs C.
