The Manawatu Seat.

MR /. S'TeVFNS' REPORTS retirem£??tv TO THE EDITOR OF MANAWATU HERALD Sir, —I observe by a paragraph in the issue of your paper for the 3rd ins?ant it is stated that “ it is said that Mr John Stevens is likely to withdraw from the contort ” (for the Manawatu seat). Allow me, sir,, to inform you that the person who so industriously circulated this rumour might make an excellent existence as a novelist, but could hardlv earn salt as a truthful reporter because I have not the sligutert intention of withdrawing from the contest. On the contrary, it Is nly intention to act vely contest the seat and go to the poll,—l am, etc., Yours* Faithfully, ‘ John' Stevens.
