At the half-yearly meeting of the Bank of New South Wales held at Sydney this week, the nett profits were shown as £133,800, A dividend of ten per cent per annum was declared and £30,000 was added to Reserve, £s°°o to Officers' Provident Fund, and £16,270 was carried fonvar'dChairman said the large all-round *u crease in deposits could be ascribed to the improved condition of the vaiious producing industries. , The outlook was promising. The Reserve Fund was now £1,400,000. The Borough Council < meeting last evening wds very prolonged, and a great deal of discussion took place on general matters, and, inter alia, upon a motion tabled by Cr Baker some weeks ago relative to street improvement and the institution ot water and lighting services. The Manawatu Poultry Association have issued a supplementary prize list for the show to be held June 21st, 22nd and 23rd next, at Palmerston North in conjunction with the winter show carnival. The additional special prizes range in value fr®m 73 fid to £3 3s covering all divisions. It is a feature of this Show that all specials are won straight out and are in addition to the Association’s class prize. It must be noted that poultry exhibitors are altogether offered exceptional inducements. The Secretary writes that support is being accorded the show from many places ranging from Auckland to Invercargill and many of the later developments in new breeds will be in evidence, particularly of fowls and ducks. Owing to this Show befog held at the time of the Manawatu and West Coast A. and P. Association’s winter show, and Dairying Associations' Conference at Palmerston North, excursion rates will be in force. A postcard to the Secretary, J. C. Lane, P. O. Box 85, Palmerston North will obtain further information.
