Football.

To-day’s result at the racecourse is eagerly looked tor by footballers round about the district. Betting is fairly even, though Old Boys seem confident of doing the redoubtable Maori combination. Fooiballers generally have been working enthusiastically this past week, and amongst others, Mr Fred Robinson deserves a special word of praise for supplying the necessary labour concerning up-to date and serviceable goal posts which adorn the ground. Also Messrs Shadbolt and Howan for the use of a horse and cart for removing missiles.

A complete table of the position of teams competing for the Hankins’ Shield (both north and south divisions) will appear in the Herald every Tuesday.
