Football.
Players would do well to not* that the Manawatu by-laws compel them to play in correct club colours. A hard-working committee put in an appearance at the racecourse yesterday afternoon, and did yeoman service in erecting goal-posts, etc. Mr hyd Wright is busy to-day r«moving wild Irishman from the convincing ground, and ere Saturday comes round, the ground should be thoroughly marked and in applepie order generally. The Executive wish to particularly thank all those who are sending assistance, and accord a special vote to Mr P. Neylon for suppling goal posts. The Old Boys team intend to insure themselves against accident on Saturday next—-a wise step. Their team for the match against Huia is : —Full-back, Rice; three quarters, Saville, Barker, Shadbolt; fiveeighth, J. Dunn; half, GK Dnnn; wings, B. Newth and J. Marshall; forwards, Desmond, Curtis, Hooker, Lee, Proctor Johnson, S. (Wright. Emergencies, H. Larkins and Jenks. There should be a large crowd to witness the opening fixture.
