Ladies and gentlemen,— To all those who so generously supported my candidature, and to whom my best thanks are due, and now tendered, I shall ever feel grateful for the splendid results at the poll. It far exceeded my hopes, and I must ask you not to look upon it as a defeat. You must bear : .n mind that you were fighting a combination of six men who were determined to oust me from office. My thanks are due to those who opposed me in the matter, of their selection, for I’m sure they could not have selected a more harmless gentleman. Should yon at some future time require my services they are at your disposal. In matters pertaining to the welfare of Foxton I shall always give my hearty support. I have the honour to be, Yours Obiedently. G. A. SIMPSON.
