NAVAL GUNS CRITICISED. London, April 27. In an article headed “ A Naval Crisis,” the “ Daily Graphic ” says that experiments show that_ the 35 calibre i2-inch Mark VIII wire guns, constituting the main armaments of fifteen of onr newest battleships, are incapable of firing fifty full charges. The article adds thst shells burst in seven out ot sixteen similar guns on Japanese warships. COMMONWEALTH POLITICS. Adelaide, April 27. The Federal Premier, Mr G. H, Reid, gave an address here on the political situation. He said he would conduct useful business as 'long_ as possible; when he found that impossible he would appeal to the country. Cases of cerebral meningitis have been reported from all parts of GerBiany. the majority of cases have occurred in the mining districts. The Dominion Parliament has disallowed the enactment of British Columbia, against Japanese immigrants on the ground of incompatibility of Imperial interests.
