THE AWAKENING.

TO THE EDITOR OP THE UA.VATVATO HERALD. Sis,—The words of the top line ring in my ears. The world is cooling every day, by i*s natural course, but man can help a great deal to hasten evolution. Several instances of late have .shown that Foxton may become an important place in this colony. People may throw cold water on us, that we are backward in many things and in many ways, but let us remember that although slackness of energy, or lack of enthusiasm may be a sign of decay, yet in many instances it may lead up towards a great revival. Tha energy which hag been held in reserve for so long amongst us and which has not been put forward to great usefulness is trying to force it* way ill our midst. I believe the tima is here for action. After a long and dreary sleep we will enjoy the morn which is begmlng to dawn. We have been trying to get a gymasium for tha men in our midst, and thank goodness we are getting on fine. The grand concert which is going to be held on Monday might is evidence that wtf are progressing favourablyNow, gentlemen, having heard from so many that I am rather of an inpnlsive nature, I only wish to use my qualities for a good purpose, and surely if Mother nature has been*o kind in bestowing upoft me such a treasure I rise to act accordingly. I have an offer for you: Take thtf opportunity else you might lost your chance. Time is short. I ac' - according to my impulse, and I want to raise £250. How, and wherefore, I will let you know next weak. Meanwhile let us look forward to our grant concert, where we will hear some good singers, and one amongst them a splendid baritone, and roll up in hundreds.—l am, etc., Brother Fox. ! | j | I j ' { j j i
