Speaking at a “ smoke” given in honour of the visiting athletes in Wellington on Saturday night, Duffey eulogised young Goodbehere, who had beaten him that day, who, he said, should develop into a first-class man. Shrubb spoke well of J. H. Prendcville, who annexed the Three Mile Run. Of Burk (Dunedin), Shrubb thought he would make a great half-miler. Some difficulty aros« in the 75 Yards Handicap, where Duffey was very fractions, breaking repeatedly. The started (Mr George Watson) declined to start Duffey, and Mr J. H. Pollock acted in that capacity. Handicaps are out for Rongotea Sports to-morrow. Of the boxton peds engaged, L. J. Furrie has 4yds in the 100, 8 in the 320, 12 in the 440, and Bin the 220 Bracelet; G. Huse has 10, 15, 35 and 15 respectively; J. McDonald has 50 in the Halt-Mile, and xoo in the Mile, whilst R. Hickson has 55 and 110 over the same distances. Farris is not likely to mak# the trip.
