SOUTHERN STOCK SALES, Christchurch, March aa. At the Addington yards prices were unchanged, but a few desirable sorts brought higher prices. Good to prime beef sold at 20s to 325, and occasionally 235; cow and inferior to second quality, 15s to 19s per xoolb. Steers sold at £6 to £ll, heifers £5 5s to £9 10s, and cows £4 17s 6d to .£% per head. A good entry of fat calves was cleared at 7s 6d to 50s a bead. Thera was a large yarding of store cattle, but the demand was extremely dull, and a large proportion was withdrawn. Salse were made at the following prices Calves 18s, yearlings 53s to 379, fifteen to eighteen months 35s to 55s two-year* old heifers £3, two and a half year, old steers £4 s*, three-year-old steers £4 as to £4 58, three-year-old heifers £4 7s to £4 12s 6d, dry cows 38s to 545. In dairy cows there was a good entry. Ordinary and inferior stock was neglected. Good milkers, sold at £6 xos to £8 ros, springing heifersA to £6 ros, aged cows £3 to £5. The 4000 fat sheep penned consisted mainly of good to prime wethers, with some very prime ewes. The demand was good, and values were very firm. Wethers 31s 3d to 25s 6d,ewes (prime heavy) 21s 24s fid, medium to good 18s to eos 6d, aged ifis to 17s pd, merino ewes ns 3d to 12s Id. , There was an active demand for fat lambs* and prices were firm. Tegs 18s fid to 19s fid. a few to 30s fid, iamb weights 17s to 18s 3d, graziers’ lots ifis to ifis Bd. The yarding of store sheep totalled xfi,6ob including consignments from the North Island, Nelson and Chatham Islands. The demand was good. Wethers hardened slightly and lambi were firm.
