Moutoa Notes.

(Front Oar dwii Correspondent.) The local schoolmaster attended what he understood .was to be a representative meeting Of the school committee and the parents generally at Foxton, on Monday evening, to decide what was to be done concerning the proposed excursion to the Gorge on the 2gth inst. Business had to be scratched, thogeh, owing to the miserable attendance, there being only three members of the committee, three parents and two teachers present. It is a shame that parents cannot find time to try and arrange the outing that the youngster's are so keenly looking forward to. The return fare for adults is only cs 6d and for children is id. It is certainly not fair to place all the responsibility of the guarantee on the members of the committee. The parents should interest themselves in the matter for it is the children who are to benefit, not the committee.

Brother Fox had the misfortune to have his horse go lame when on his rounds through the Montoa flaxmills last Tuesday evening. Happily, however, some local residents were about to start for Foxton and gave the genial parson a lift. Good luck to his Gymnasium scheme.
