This game was commenced yesterday afternoon on (he school-ground. Montoa, winning the, toss, elected to pul iheir opponents in, and disposed of them in just over an hour for 6i rims. A thunderstorm, which had been threatening during the afternoon, came on in earnest at the conclusion of the Foxton innings, and the heavy rain compelled the postponement of the game. The play was uneventful, the chief feature being the trundling ot the Montoa bowlers. The batting of the Foxtonians was good all round, but at no stage was it brilliant owing to the excellent length maintained by the bowlers. K. Fnrrie enlivened matters by some smart running between the wickets, causing considerable amusement among the spectators. J. Bowe captained the visitors and E. Spelman the home eleven, while Messrs F. Martin and E. Dunn acted as umpires. During the afternoon a capital lunch was served on the ground by Mr Perreau, to which ample justice was done by the players.
